Patrick Barkham, author of The Butterfly Isles, has written a wonderfully enticing book about what is it like to be an islander and what draws people to live there.
His journey of exploration took him to some of the world’s most beautiful landscapes, which are evocative and vividly described. His acute observations of the different lives lived in remote environments are intensely memorable. ‘We are all islanders, but some are more islander than others.’ Patrick is a Natural History features writer for The Guardian.
This event will be hosted by Dan Boothby, traveller, writer and would-be islander.
