We are whetting your appetite for this year’s Literary Tea by enticing you into the thrillingly murky world of true crime with bestselling author of The Secret Life of Bletchley Park and The Spies of Winter, Sinclair McKay.

In 1860, 70 year-old widow turned landlady Mary Emsley was found brutally killed in her own home, and the murder case gripped the nation. The police investigation was filled with twists and dramatic discoveries, and the trial culminated in one of the last executions at Newgate. Years later the case caught the attention of Arthur Conan Doyle, who was convinced that the wrong man had been convicted and executed.

Sinclair McKay believes he has solved this intriguing case, revealing all in The Mile End Murder. He will present his evidence, before the serving of a delicious tea.
