William Grill is a brilliant young illustrator who is the youngest winner of the Kate Greenaway medal for 50 years, and he won this prestigious award with his first book, Shackleton’s Journey, a thrilling account of Shackleton’s legendary Antarctic expeditions.
William’s new book The Wolves of Currumpaw is based on a true story from the 1890s about a man chasing wolves across the prairies of New Mexico and the impact the wolves had on him. He has been to New Mexico to research and draw the wolves, and should have some exciting tales to tell his young audience at Sevenoaks Primary School.
William enjoys working in coloured pencils and stresses the importance of using illustration to communicate in our increasingly visual culture. He runs an art club at a London primary school and feels strongly that drawing should be encouraged as part of a rounded education.
William will be at Sevenoaks Bookshop signing books from 4pm – all welcome!
