Young Readers Festival Day: Free Storytimes!

A packed programme of absolutely FREE events on September 29th:

10.30am – 3.30pm
The Art Trolley

Swing by the marquee and join artist Lorena Carbajal for book-inspired craft activities throughout the day. Sponsored by The Peacock Rooms

11.00am – 11.30am
Storytime with Rachel Valentine

Audrey is desperate to invent, but things don’t always go to plan. And Happy Cat, well he’s not that happy about any of the inventions!
Perfect for crazy inventors and cat lovers.

12.00 – 12.30pm
Storytime with Katherine McEwen

Deep in a wood, under snow-thick skies, a young bear awakes. He must get ready for winter, just as Mama and Papa Bear showed him. A wonderful tale about a family of bears as they live through the seasons. And after the story, you can have a go at making your own bear mask!

1.00 – 1.30pm
Storytime with Candy Gourlay

When Benjie and Bel find a strange creature on a tropical beach they know it’s a dugong. But the dugong insists she is a beautiful mermaid and to prove it, she shows them her mermaid’s tale and sings them a mermaid song.

Join Candy for fun-filled storytime followed by drawing and story-making with her magic fish bag.

2.00 – 3.00pm
David Litchfield and his Bear Band

The award-winning author and illustrator, David Litchfield, will be reading The Bear and the Piano and its brand new sequel The Bear, the Piano, the Dog and the Fiddle, accompanied by live music. Stick around afterwards to help David create animal-themed artwork. You can even join David’s merry band of bears as they perform live music together on the bandstand!
